Head of Product

Relish was founded in July 2018 by Lesley Eccles, who previously founded FanDuel, (one of Scotland’s largest consumer companies which she grew to over 500 employees and a user base of over 6m customers). Relish closed a seed round of funding at the end of 2018 from Trinity Ventures (a long established Silicon Valley VC firm).

Relish is tranforming the relationship advice space with the first-ever truly personalized relationship training app that makes it easy to build a happy, healthy, more connected relationship.

Relish is currently only available in the US. Having achieved App of the Day in the US App Store in August 2019, before it even officially launched, this is your chance to get in at the ground floor with a category defining product that is changing the way people live.

We’re looking for a deeply talented Head of Product who can:

  • Own and further develop the Relish product strategy, build a roadmap to get there, and prioritise the work to deliver it based on key business goals

  • Work creatively to evaluate and analyse areas of the product using data and user insights to solve problems

  • Oversee product development from concept, prototype, specification, design, development, testing, launch, and iteration

  • Maintain a harmonious and productive rhythm between engineering, design, and non-technical stakeholders through good communication and stakeholder management

Reporting directly to the CEO, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with the Lead Engineer and CEO to develop and refine high level product strategy

  • Assess value, prioritise stories and areas of work to ensure focus is on those with maximum value and aligned to product strategy.

  • Lead planning, facilitate team conversations, help break work into iterative releases, create and own product release plans and set expectations for delivery.

  • Prioritise and groom the product feature backlog, and also keep track of stakeholder requests, bugs and iterations.

  • Capture and refine product requirements, including analytic events and design requirements

  • Ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of prepared tasks ready to work on.

You will have these skills:

  • Strong project management and organisational skills;

  • Ability to focus on the big picture in terms of what will move the metrics;

  • Attention to detail with excellent follow through skills;

  • Able to deal with multiple priorities or tasks at once;

  • A practical attitude and be adept at problem solving;

  • Strong communicative skills, both written and verbal, and ability to push back;

  • Strong analytical skills to understand how customers are using the product;

  • Knowledge of mobile app development and release processes.

  • Knowledge of Amplitude is a bonus

Who are you likely to be?

You’re an experienced product manager: You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, for a consumer technology product. You know how to develop and test ideas, and how to analyse the results to understand the impact of changes

You’re strategic: You’re data-driven and highly analytical. You prioritise strategic choices, over just releasing features. And you know when and when not to go with your gut

You’re creative: You have vision and the skills to communicate your vision and inspire the team, you approach problems with creative thinking.

You can hit the ground running, with experience of working in a startup: You’re willing to do a bit of everything and get your hands dirty (by dirty, we mean anything from providing customer support, QA, to writing in app copy, so not *that* dirty)

You’re agile and able to deal with change: You have experience with agile delivery and development practices but are not devoted to any particular one. You can deal with changes in priority like water off a duck’s back.

You value simplicity: You understand that less is often more. You find the fastest path to deliver maximum value to user.

You are at home with data: You can define success metrics, analyse and monitor features and suggest improvements based on results

You are user-centric: You care about user experiences and are the voice of the customer for the product. You value user feedback, understand user testing best practices, and user-insights inform your decisions.

You have a sense of humour: In case we had to remind you, you’re a team player. You like the people you work with, you might even go for lunch once in a while. 🙂

  • The best equipment and software to go about executing your day-to-day work
